Gundog Estate Hunter's Shiraz 2024

Gundog Estate Hunter's Shiraz is a traditional Pokolbin red, medium in weight and built around earth and dark fruit.

Old low-yielding blocks on clay loam soils are kept apart through the ferment, each one offering its own aroma and tannin before the parcels are drawn together into a single frame. Shifting soils across the area hand the blend both brightness and depth, and it goes under screwcap with no animal products involved.

There is plum and red earth here, a soft savoury edge, and structure that stays fine and drying. Open it at 16 to 18 degrees with braised beef, mushrooms or a cheese board, giving it a short decant while young.
