Description

Hans Herzog Chardonnay is an organically grown Marlborough Chardonnay in a rich, barrel-fermented style.

Fermentation and maturation both happen in French oak, giving a generous, layered white. The vineyard, planted in the 1990s by Swiss winemaker Hans Herzog and his wife Therese, sits on stony, sun-trapping ground on the northern side of the Wairau Valley. Low yields and small-batch winemaking give the range a European feel.

Full and creamy, with ripe stone fruit, citrus and nutty oak. Serve at 10–12°C with roast chicken, crayfish, veal or soft-rind cheese.
