Description

Hans Herzog Sauvignon Blanc Grande Duchesse is a reserve-style Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, oak-aged and made for richness and cellaring.

Selected fruit and time in barrel take this Sauvignon well away from the usual regional style, adding texture and complexity. It comes from an organic vineyard on stony, free-draining ground in the Wairau Valley, established in the 1990s by Hans and Therese Herzog, who came from a Swiss winemaking family. Small batches and extended ageing before release are standard practice there.

Ripe citrus and stone fruit lead to a creamy, savoury finish. Serve at 10–12°C with roast chicken, scallops or fish in a creamy sauce.
