Hay Shed Hill Vineyard Series Shiraz Tempranillo 2023

Hay Shed Hill Vineyard Series Shiraz Tempranillo is a Margaret River red that brings together Australian fruit power and Spanish savouriness.

Shiraz and Tempranillo make natural partners, two old varieties combining into something new. In this blend the Shiraz provides a fleshy, fruit-sweet core of deep plum and black pepper, while Tempranillo adds licorice-like savouriness and a more complex tannin structure. The aim is a wine more complete than either grape alone, pairing the generosity expected of Australian Shiraz with extra texture. Grown in Margaret River's maritime climate, it keeps a lively, violet-scented lift.

Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees. It has the savoury edge to handle tapas, paella with chorizo or a pepper-crusted steak, and it is drinking well now.
