Description

HEAD Red GSM blends Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro, the three varieties at the heart of the southern RhĂ´ne.

Mataro is the Australian name for Mourvèdre, and all three grapes have grown in the Barossa since the nineteenth century, originally for fortified wine. Grenache brings perfume, Shiraz depth and Mataro structure. Alex Head's whole project since 2006 has been Rhône varieties from single Barossa and Eden Valley sites, and the Head Red range is its accessible tier.

Serve at 16 degrees with roast lamb, sausages or a vegetable tagine. Drink over the next six years.
