Heathcote Winery Mail Coach Shiraz is a rich and complex Victorian red with silky tannins and plenty of dark fruit.

Shiraz is the grape the Heathcote region is best known for, and its red soils, derived from ancient Cambrian rock, are a big part of the story. They hold water well through dry summers and help vines ripen fruit with intensity and structure. From its base in the town of Heathcote, the winery makes several Shiraz labels, and Mail Coach sits among the more generous of them, with bold berry fruit, warm spice and a hint of coffee over a concentrated, layered palate.

Good company for a Sunday roast of beef or lamb, or a plate of aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees, and consider a few years of cellaring.
