Heirloom Vineyards Adelaide Hills Assen's Fortalice Chardonnay is a top-tier Adelaide Hills Chardonnay with real weight, texture and length.

Among the reserve wines in the Heirloom range, this Chardonnay draws on fruit from the cool high country of the Adelaide Hills, where Elena Brooks finds the balance of ripeness and acidity she looks for in the variety. Young, it shows white peach, nectarine and a wave of citrus: lime, lemon curd, mandarin and ruby grapefruit. The palate has lovely body and weight, filling the mouth before finishing long and mineral, with a keen line of acidity and only a restrained hint of oak spice.

Serve cool, around 10 to 12 degrees, with seared scallops, crayfish or a pork and fennel roast. It will build further complexity over five or more years in the cellar.
