Heirloom Vineyards Adelaide Hills Tempranillo 2023

Heirloom Vineyards Adelaide Hills Tempranillo is a dark, plush and savoury red that brings an Iberian grape to South Australian high country.

Grown in the cool Adelaide Hills, this Tempranillo belongs to the Heirloom range made by Elena Brooks, who with Zar Brooks sources each wine from the region best suited to the grape. It shows crushed cherry, just-ripe plum and blackberry, alongside the herbal, brambly notes typical of the variety and a lift of nutty, sarsaparilla-like complexity. Firm Tempranillo tannins keep the rich fruit in check and give a dry, savoury finish.

A good match for chargrilled pork chops, chorizo and bean stew or manchego. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees and give it time in the glass to open.
