Heirloom Vineyards Barossa Shiraz 2023

Heirloom Vineyards Barossa Shiraz is a deep, layered Barossa Shiraz with pure dark fruit and gentle, wave-like tannins.

The Barossa is Australia's best-known Shiraz region, with grape growing stretching back to the 1840s and some of the oldest Shiraz vines on earth. Heirloom draws on that heritage for this wine, made by Elena Brooks with an eye to purity and freshness. Blackberry, blueberry and cassis lead, with a sense of tension and lift in the aromatics. The palate is plush and deep yet textured, with drying tannins and just a whisper of coffee and mocha.

Serve at 17 to 18 degrees with slow-cooked beef short ribs, a lamb roast or hard cheeses. Decanting will help it open up, and it has the structure for medium-term cellaring.
