Henriques & Henriques Bual 10Yo is a medium-rich varietal madeira aged for ten years by the canteiro method.

Boal, anglicised as Bual, is the second sweetest of Madeira's four noble white varieties. The vineyards are traditionally found in the south of the island, around Campanário and Calheta, at lower altitudes of 100 to 300 metres, where the warmth builds the sugar the style needs. Henriques & Henriques produce their 10 Year Old range at purpose-built lodges in Câmara de Lobos using canteiro ageing: the casks are left in the lodge under the gentle natural warmth of the sun rather than being heated in an estufa, so oxidation and maturation proceed slowly over the full decade. The result sits between the dry Verdelho and the sweet Malvasia in the house range, medium-rich, with the high acidity that keeps madeira lively at any level of sweetness. Bottled at 500ml.

Ready on release, and an opened bottle keeps for months. Serve at around 14°C with crème caramel, pastéis de nata, walnut tart or a piece of aged cheese.
