Henriques & Henriques Bual 10Yo is a medium-sweet varietal madeira aged by the traditional canteiro method in the company's lodges.

Bual, spelled Boal in Portuguese, is one of Madeira's four classic noble varieties and gives wines of medium sweetness with the piercing acidity that defines the island. Henriques & Henriques makes the ten-year-old range at purpose-built lodges in Câmara de Lobos, using canteiro rather than estufa: casks are stacked in a warm loft against south-facing windows and left to mature slowly under the sun's natural heat, which produces a more refined result than tank heating. The Bual vineyards are found traditionally in the south of the island, around Campanário and Calheta, at lower altitudes between 100 and 300 metres, where the variety ripens fully.

It will keep indefinitely unopened and for months afterwards; serve at 14-16C with almond tart, dried figs or a piece of hard cheese.
