Henriques & Henriques Bual 15Yo is a medium-rich madeira aged by the canteiro method for a minimum of fifteen years.

Bual, or Boal, is the second sweetest of Madeira's four classic noble varieties, grown mainly on the warmer southern side of the island and giving wines of medium richness with the piercing acidity that defines all madeira. Henriques & Henriques, one of the island's largest vineyard owners, age their 15 Year Old range at purpose-built lodges in Câmara de Lobos using the canteiro process rather than the heated estufa: casks are stacked against south-facing windows and left for at least three years in the gentler natural warmth of the sun, so maturation proceeds slowly and the wine develops its oxidative character without being cooked. The result is a brilliant amber wine with golden lights, aromatic and clearly showing its age, full-bodied and complex with dried fruit through the palate. This bottling is in a 500ml format.

An open bottle will keep for months. Serve at around 14°C with cheese, fruit tart, crème caramel, pastéis de nata or tarte tatin, or alongside richer meat dishes.
