Henriques & Henriques Full Rich 500ml

Henriques & Henriques Full Rich is a sweet madeira in a 500ml bottle, made for the dessert end of the table.

Madeira is grown on terraces cut into the steep volcanic slopes of the island, and its wines are defined by deliberate heating and long exposure to air, which makes them almost indestructible once opened. Henriques & Henriques works from purpose-built lodges at Câmara de Lobos on the south coast and is unusual among shippers in owning substantial vineyards. The Full Rich style sits at the sweetest end of the house's entry range, based on Tinta Negra, the island's most widely planted variety and the one traditionally used across all four sweetness levels. Warming under a controlled estufa regime gives the dark colour and caramel character, and the wine keeps madeira's tangy acidity underneath the sweetness, so it stays fresh rather than heavy.

It will keep for months once opened; serve lightly chilled at 12-14C with steamed pudding, chocolate cake or alongside coffee.
