Description

Henschke Abbotts Prayer is a Merlot and Cabernet blend from a single vineyard in the Adelaide Hills.

The site sits at Lenswood, high and cold on the eastern edge of the Mount Lofty Ranges, which is why the family planted Bordeaux varieties here rather than in the Eden Valley: the long season gives the blend structure and fine tannin without the weight of warmer ground. The Henschke family has been making wine in South Australia since 1868, and this block is worked and bottled on its own.

Serve at 17 degrees with roast lamb, beef or a hard cheese. It will develop over fifteen years.
