Description
Henschke Marble Angel is a single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the Stonegarden vineyard district in the Barossa.
Cabernet ripens later than Shiraz and needs a site that holds acidity, which the sandy loam and quartz-strewn soils of this part of the valley provide. The label takes its name from the marble angel that stands in the Gnadenberg Lutheran churchyard near the vineyard, carved by an itinerant stonemason. Fruit is hand-picked, fermented in open vessels with the cap plunged by hand, and matured in French oak hogsheads, with a portion new.
Decant and serve at 17 degrees with roast lamb, aged beef or a hard washed cheese. It will develop over fifteen years.
