Description
Hesketh Woodside Gamay is a rare Australian bottling of the Beaujolais grape, from the Adelaide Hills.
Gamay is barely planted in Australia, and it needs cool conditions to give the bright, low-tannin red it produces on Beaujolais granite. Woodside in the Adelaide Hills, at around 400 metres, is one of the few places it has been tried seriously. The wine is fermented with whole bunches in the Beaujolais manner and given minimal oak.
Serve slightly cool at 14 degrees with charcuterie, roast chicken or a picnic. Drink within four years.
