Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard The Peake Cabernet Shiraz 2022

Hickinbotham The Peake is the flagship Cabernet and Shiraz blend from the Clarendon vineyard above McLaren Vale.

Clarendon sits in the hills at the eastern edge of McLaren Vale, several degrees cooler than the valley floor, on clay over ironstone. The vineyard was planted in 1971 by the Hickinbotham family, supplied fruit to Penfolds Grange and other landmark wines for decades, and was bought by the Jackson family in 2012. The Peake is named for the block's original owner. Fruit is fermented in small open vessels and matured in French oak, a good portion new.

Decant well ahead and serve at 17 degrees with aged beef, venison or hard cheese. It rewards twenty years.
