Hickinbotham Mr Grant Malbec 2021

Hickinbotham Mr Grant Malbec is a single-variety Malbec from the Clarendon vineyard above McLaren Vale.

Malbec is usually a blending grape in Australia, so bottling it alone is a statement about the site: Clarendon's cool elevation and ironstone clay keep the variety's natural plushness in check and give it acidity. The wine is named for a figure in the vineyard's history, which runs back to the 1971 planting. Fermentation is in small open vessels, with French oak maturation.

Serve at 17 degrees with grilled beef, lamb or a spiced stew. Drink over the next twelve years.
