Huet Haut Lieu Moelleux 1er Trie Vouvray 2015

Huet Haut Lieu Moelleux 1er Trie Vouvray is a sweet Chenin from the domaine's oldest vineyard, made only from the ripest selected fruit.

Le Haut-Lieu is the original Huet vineyard, bought by Victor Huet in 1928, and sits on clay over limestone on the Première Côte above Vouvray. Of the domaine's three sites it is generally the roundest and most immediately charming, where Le Mont is firmer and Clos du Bourg more powerful. A Première Trie is only made in the better years, from a pass through the vineyard taking the ripest berries alone, often with a proportion of botrytis. The estate has farmed biodynamically since the late 1980s, ferments with indigenous yeasts and bottles without excessive intervention, which is why these wines hold their tension over decades. This bottling is deep gold in colour, concentrated and grippy, with the sweetness carried by the salty, tension-filled acidity that marks Huet at every level.

Drinking well now and will keep for many years yet. Serve at 8-10°C with a fruit tart, Roquefort or seared duck liver.
