Hunter & McKirdy Les Forêts Oubliées is a distinctive Alsace white made from Auxerrois, a variety often overshadowed by its more famous regional neighbours.

Hunter & McKirdy is a small estate based in Zellenberg, Alsace, founded by Jolene Hunter and Paul McKirdy, both formerly of the celebrated Domaine Zind-Humbrecht. The pair farm parcels of old vines on Jurassic limestone-marl soils and favour an unconventional, hands-off approach, including spontaneous fermentation in seasoned barrels, minimal additions and deliberately small production, with wines bottled as Vin de France rather than under strict AOC rules. This freedom lets them focus purely on site expression, and Auxerrois, planted on their limestone parcels, responds with real texture and precision.

Pure and precisely made, this is a lovely, food-friendly white suited to seafood, poultry and other lighter, fresh-flavoured dishes.
