Isole e Olena Cepparello 2021

Isole e Olena Cepparello is a pure Sangiovese from Chianti Classico, named after the stream that runs through the estate.

The property sits in the hills near Barberino Tavarnelle, in the north-western corner of Chianti Classico, and takes its name from two neighbouring farms, Isole and Olena, brought together by the De Marchi family in the 1950s. Paolo De Marchi took charge in the 1970s and made Cepparello from 1980, at a time when Chianti Classico rules still obliged growers to blend in white grapes, so a wine of Sangiovese alone had to be sold under the humblest classification available. It is drawn from the estate's best Sangiovese parcels and matured in French oak. Ownership passed to the French group EPI in 2022.

A wine for roast and grilled meats, bistecca alla fiorentina or aged pecorino; decant and serve at around 18 degrees.
