Description

Isole e Olena Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is a wine from the top tier of the Chianti Classico pyramid, made at one of the zone's most respected estates.

Gran Selezione was introduced in 2013 as a rung above Riserva, open only to wines made entirely from a producer's own fruit and held to longer ageing and tighter analytical limits than the rest of the appellation. Isole e Olena lies near Barberino Tavarnelle in the north-west of Chianti Classico, a property assembled by the De Marchi family in the 1950s from two neighbouring farms and built into a benchmark address over the following decades. The wine comes from selected estate parcels and is matured in French oak. Ownership passed to the French group EPI in 2022.

A wine for roast and grilled meats, game or aged cheeses; decant and serve at about 18 degrees. For the table or the cellar.
