Description
Jasper Hill Georgia's Paddock Riesling is a dry Heathcote Riesling from a small planting within the Laughton family's bio-dynamically farmed estate.
Jasper Hill was established in 1975 by Ron and Elva Laughton on the Cambrian-era red soils of Heathcote in central Victoria, and is now run with their daughters Emily and Georgia, after whom the two estate paddocks are named. Although the estate is best known for Shiraz, a small block of Riesling grows within Georgia's Paddock, dry grown on its own roots and farmed with organic and bio-dynamic practices. Heathcote is a warm inland region for Riesling, and the estate's approach is to pick for natural acidity and ferment the juice cool in stainless steel to preserve purity and freshness. The wine is fermented dry and bottled early under screwcap to retain its brightness, giving an unusual inland counterpoint to the cooler Riesling regions of South Australia.
Dry, crisp and precise, it is a natural match for fresh seafood, Thai and Vietnamese dishes and goat's cheese; serve well chilled at around 8 to 10 degrees.
