JC's Own Shiraz 2023

JC's Own Shiraz is a Barossa Shiraz from Greenock, one of the valley's most regarded districts for the variety.

JC's Own is the personal label of Barossa winemaker Jaysen Collins, co-founder of Massena, and this is his take on the Barossa's signature grape. Greenock sits in the north western part of the Barossa Valley, on the western ridge, and its red brown earths over ironstone and clay, combined with warm days and low rainfall, produce Shiraz of notable depth, concentration and firm structure. Shiraz has been planted in the Barossa since the 1840s and the region holds some of the oldest producing vines of the variety anywhere. The wine is made to capture the richness typical of Greenock while keeping balance and freshness in the frame.

Rich and structured, it suits barbecued beef, braised short ribs and hard cheeses; serve at around 17 to 18 degrees.
