Jim Barry Barry Bros Shiraz is an approachable Clare Valley Shiraz made for drinking young.

The Barry Bros name nods to the brothers of the family's third generation, who now work alongside their father Peter at the winery their grandfather founded in 1959. Jim Barry was the first qualified winemaker in the Clare Valley, and the family has since built up a spread of vineyards across the region. The winemaking here aims for brightness and freshness, with oak kept seamless and well integrated so the blue and black fruit, violet notes and peppery spice stay to the fore. It's a youthful wine with good structure and layered detail for its price point.

Best served at 16 to 18 degrees, it's easy company for a midweek barbecue, lamb cutlets, pizza or beef burgers, and drinks well now without any need for decanting.
