Jim Barry Barry Bros Shiraz McGrath Foundation 2022

Jim Barry Barry Bros Shiraz McGrath Foundation is a special-label release of the family's youthful Clare Valley Shiraz, supporting the McGrath Foundation.

The McGrath Foundation, set up by cricketer Glenn McGrath and his late wife Jane, funds breast care nurses in communities around Australia, and this label brings together a good cause and a family with a soft spot for cricket. The wine shares its profile with the standard Barry Bros Shiraz: bright, fresh Clare Valley Shiraz with blue and black fruit, pepper and violets over neatly integrated oak. The winery was founded in 1959 by Jim Barry, the Clare's first qualified winemaker, and the family still runs it today, with the second and third generations working together.

Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees with barbecued sausages, steak sandwiches or a slow-cooked beef pie. It makes a good gift for cricket fans, too.
