Jim Barry Lodge Hill Riesling Cellar Release 2015

Jim Barry Lodge Hill Riesling Cellar Release is a 2015 Clare Valley Riesling held back by the winery and released with more than a decade of bottle age.

Lodge Hill, bought by the family in 1977, lies high in the eastern ranges of the Clare Valley at around 480 metres, where sunny days and cold nights keep the fruit's natural acidity intact. Rieslings from this kind of site are built to age, and the Barrys keep back a portion of certain vintages to release once they've developed in bottle. Time has added ginger spice and blossom to the Tahitian lime and lemon, while the line of acidity stays taut and the wine remains powerful, concentrated and remarkably harmonious.

Serve chilled, but not too cold, so the aged character can come through. It's lovely with pork belly and apple, crab cakes or a creamy chicken and tarragon dish.
