Jim Barry Single Vineyard Watervale Shiraz 2022

Jim Barry Single Vineyard Watervale Shiraz is a detailed, fine-grained Shiraz from one vineyard in the Clare Valley's Watervale subregion.

Founded in 1959 by the Clare Valley's first qualified winemaker, the family business now tends vineyards throughout the region, including in Watervale to the south. The subregion's limestone-influenced soils and cooler pockets help give Shiraz lift and poise alongside its fruit. Keeping this site separate lets its character come through: the 2022 shows blue fruits, red berries and blackberry compote, with a weighted mid-palate and super-fine tannins driving the finish.

Pour at 16 to 18 degrees alongside lamb shoulder with garlic and anchovy, beef tacos or a mature gouda. Drink now or cellar for the medium term.
