Jim Barry Spring Farm Block 114 Riesling 2015

Jim Barry Spring Farm Block 114 Riesling is a single-block Clare Valley Riesling released with around ten years of bottle age.

Spring Farm is one of the Barry family's highest vineyards, sitting between roughly 450 and 514 metres in the Clare Valley. Its first Riesling vines went in during 1979, and the family reacquired the property in 2006. The site is divided into blocks with differing loam soils over siltstone, and the best are bottled separately. Block 114 has aged beautifully, keeping primary fruit freshness while gaining custard apple, lemonade and butter notes; the palate is full yet restrained, with lemon pith, pink grapefruit and lime cordial and a long, refreshing finish.

Serve lightly chilled so its aged complexity shows. It's a fine match for roast chicken, pork schnitzel, or crab in a light butter sauce.
