Jim Barry Spring Farm Block 18 Riesling 2015

Jim Barry Spring Farm Block 18 Riesling is a powerful, bottle-aged Riesling from a single block of the family's high Spring Farm vineyard.

The Spring Farm vineyard climbs to more than 500 metres, making it one of the loftiest sites in the Clare Valley, and Riesling has grown there since 1979. The Barry family, whose winery was founded in 1959, brought the property back into the fold in 2006 and now bottles individual blocks to show their differences. Block 18 is an intense expression, with dried lime skin, bay leaf and grapefruit, lime cordial concentration and a toasty edge from age, all carried by a drive that punches through the palate.

Its intensity suits bold food: Thai fish cakes, pork larb, or smoked trout with horseradish. Serve chilled, around 8 to 10 degrees.
