Jim Barry The Florita SLRA-3 is a rare, limited non-vintage Riesling release from one of the Clare Valley's most famous vineyards.
The Florita vineyard at Watervale, towards the southern end of the Clare Valley, was first planted in the 1940s by Leo Buring and later replanted to Riesling. Its fruit lay behind some of the most celebrated Australian Rieslings of the 1960s and 70s. The Barry family bought the site in 1986, gradually brought the whole vineyard back under their ownership and launched The Florita label in 2004. This non-vintage bottling is a small, special release that departs from the usual single-vintage format, offering a different take on the vineyard's fruit. It shows a flinty, textural side alongside the fine acidity and slate-like minerality Florita is known for.
Serve chilled but not icy, so its layered character can open up in the glass. Pair it with scallops, roast chicken, pork belly or a soft washed-rind cheese.
