Jim Barry The McRae Wood Shiraz Cellar Release 3L is a large-format bottle of mature Shiraz released from Jim Barry's Clare Valley cellar.

Warm days and cool nights in the Clare Valley give Shiraz both ripe fruit and firm structure, which is why the region's better reds age so well. The Barry family, making wine here since 1959, draw this label from their McRae Wood vineyard. The bottle is sealed with a cork and has been held by the winery. The supplier has not provided tasting notes, but after more than twenty years it should show the savoury, developed side of Clare Shiraz.

Plan ahead with this one. Let it stand upright before serving, decant slowly and pour at around 16 to 18 degrees. It suits a long Sunday lunch with slow-roasted lamb, beef cheeks or a mushroom risotto.
