Jim Barry The McRae Wood Shiraz Cellar Release 6L is a large-format edition of McRae Wood, one of the Clare Valley's well-known Shiraz labels.

Named after the vineyard that supplies it, McRae Wood has been a mainstay of the Barry family range for many years. This six-litre bottle is under cork and comes to market through the winery's cellar release program. Plum and blackberry lead, with sweet earth, spice and hawthorn. The palate moves with ease, sinewy tannins running from start to finish, and after the typical McRae Wood depth comes a lift of florals and spice before a dark, brooding close.

Open this one for a milestone birthday or a long table of friends. Decant and serve at around 16 to 18 degrees, with slow-cooked beef brisket, a lamb leg on the rotisserie or aged Comté.
