Jim Barry Watervale Shiraz 2022

Jim Barry Watervale Shiraz is a bright, youthful Shiraz from the Watervale district of the Clare Valley.

Watervale is famous for Riesling, but its red soils also grow Shiraz with lovely perfume and freshness. The Barry family, making wine in Clare since 1959, source this one from the district and handle it to keep the fruit lively, with oak kept in the background. It shows blue and black fruits with black pepper and spice, a hint of violet, and a fresh, bright palate with good structure and detail.

Enjoy it now at around 16 to 18 degrees. It is a friendly match for pizza, lamb koftas, sausages off the barbecue or a mid-week spaghetti bolognese.
