Description

Jo Landron Brut Atmosphères is a biodynamic Loire sparkling wine made not from Muscadet's Melon de Bourgogne but from Folle Blanche and Pinot Noir.

Domaine Landron farms biodynamically in Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, and Jo Landron has never rated Melon de Bourgogne as a base for sparkling wine. Atmosphères is instead around 50 to 60 per cent Folle Blanche grown on sandy clay, with the balance Pinot Noir on gravel, from vines of 18 to 30 years. Yields sit at 50 to 60 hl/ha, well below the average in Champagne, and everything is hand-harvested and estate-grown. The base wines ferment naturally, the second fermentation takes place in bottle, and the wine spends a minimum of 24 months there before disgorgement. Dosage runs from zero to 5 g/L depending on the bottling, and the fruit for each release comes from a single vintage — 2021 in this case. The label is by the illustrator Michel Tolmer.

Drinking well now and good for three or four years. Serve at 8°C as an aperitif, or with oysters, whitebait or fried school prawns.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
