John Duval Annexus Grenache 2024

John Duval Annexus Grenache is a Barossa Grenache in the Duval family's single-variety Annexus series.

The Annexus name points to the link between these single-variety wines and the Plexus blends they help build. John Duval, formerly chief winemaker at Penfolds, and his son Tim select old Barossa vineyards for the range, and the Grenache is handled gently to keep its perfume and freshness. The 2024 shows cherry and raspberry with florals and a subtle herbal edge, then pure raspberry and blackberry over an ironstone and earthy spice core, with long, powdery tannins.

Pour it at around 15 to 17 degrees. It pairs well with pork and fennel sausages, a lamb tagine or a charred eggplant dish, and will keep for several years.
