John Duval Eligo Shiraz 2022

John Duval Eligo Shiraz is the top Shiraz from John Duval Wines, made from the best parcels of the vintage in the Barossa.

The name comes from the Latin for 'I choose', and the wine is a selection of the family's finest Shiraz each year. John Duval ran winemaking at Penfolds for many years, including Grange, and brings that experience to this wine alongside his son Tim. It is sealed under cork for long ageing. The 2022 has satsuma plum and blackberry with anise, clove and dried herbs, and a richly textured palate packed with blue and dark fruit, ironstone and licorice. It is deep and powerful, with fine long tannins and balanced acidity.

Decant for at least an hour and serve at around 17 to 18 degrees. Pair with a standing rib roast, venison loin or aged hard cheeses. It has the structure to cellar for fifteen years or more.
