John Duval Entity Shiraz 2023

John Duval Entity Shiraz is a Barossa Shiraz that sits in the middle of the Duval family's range.

John Duval launched his own label in 2003 after a long career at Penfolds, and Entity was among his early wines. It draws on Shiraz from across the Barossa, with the aim of showing depth and polish without heaviness. The 2023 has dark berries, plum and blue fruit with anise, sage and clove. It carries excellent weight and concentration, with dark chocolate and earth, and finishes long with supple tannins.

It is a generous red to open with a crowd. Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees with lamb cutlets, beef and mushroom pie or a smoky barbecue.
