Joseph Faiveley Meursault 1er Cru 'Charmes' 2021

Joseph Faiveley Meursault 1er Cru 'Charmes' is a white Burgundy from the largest and most celebrated of the Meursault premiers crus.

Meursault lies between Volnay and Puligny-Montrachet and is the biggest white wine village of the Côte d'Or, its reputation built on limestone slopes and a long tradition of barrel ageing. Les Charmes sits on the lower and middle slope beside Perrières and Genevrières, the three forming the heart of the village's premier cru land. Domaine Faiveley was founded at Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1825 and remains in family hands; its white wine holdings were expanded considerably under Erwan Faiveley, who took charge in the mid 2000s. The wine is fermented and aged in barrel on its lees, with new oak used sparingly. Meursault has no grand cru of its own, so the best premiers crus carry the reputation of the village.

Serve at around twelve degrees with scallops, poultry in cream sauce or a soft washed-rind cheese.
