Kanta Riesling Museum Release 2015

Kanta Riesling Museum Release is a mature Adelaide Hills Riesling, released a decade after vintage.

Kanta brings a Mosel perspective to the Adelaide Hills through its link with Egon Müller of the Scharzhof. The winemaking is unusual for Australian Riesling: the fruit is cold soaked on skins before fermentation, fermented with wild yeast and left on lees for an extended period, all of which builds texture. Now gold-tinged, the 2015 shows floral aromatics, honeysuckle and green-skinned pear, with citrus on the palate and, as it opens, delicate nuttiness, baked pear and candied peel.

Take it out of the fridge a few minutes before serving, around 10 degrees, so its aged character can show. It is lovely with roast pork, a rich fish pie or washed-rind cheese.
