Kientzler Riesling Geisberg Grand Cru 375ml 2023

Kientzler Riesling Geisberg Grand Cru is a dry Alsace Riesling from one of the steep grand cru slopes directly above Ribeauvillé.

Geisberg is a small grand cru of roughly eight hectares on the hillside behind Ribeauvillé, facing south and south east at a steep gradient, on a mix of sandstone, marl and limestone that drains hard and holds warmth. The Kientzler family works from Ribeauvillé and holds parcels in several of the local grand crus, farming without herbicides and picking by hand into small cases. The Riesling is pressed whole bunch, fermented slowly with indigenous yeasts in temperature controlled tank and left on its fine lees before bottling, with the aim of a completely dry wine that carries the site's mineral grip rather than any overt fruit sweetness.

Taut and dry with real length, it works with river trout, roast poultry, choucroute and hard mountain cheeses; serve at ten to twelve degrees.
