Kings County Barrel Strength Bourbon 63.8% is an uncut Brooklyn bourbon bottled straight from the barrel in a half-size format.

Barrel strength at Kings County means exactly that: nothing added, nothing cut, drawn from the older end of the distillery's bourbon inventory. The house recipe leans hard on malted barley alongside organic New York corn, with no wheat or rye, and the spirit is double distilled in copper pot stills in the manner of a Scotch distillery instead of the column stills used across most of Kentucky. Everything happens in the Paymaster Building at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where Colin Spoelman and David Haskell set up in 2012. At 63.8 per cent this is the full, undiluted house style.

Dense and sweet-edged, with burnt sugar, baked fruit, malt and a long peppery heat. Neat is the point, in a small measure, and a few drops of water will open it considerably. It also makes an unusually good Old Fashioned if you scale the sugar up.
