Kings County Chocolate Moonshine

Kings County Chocolate Moonshine is a cacao-infused unaged whiskey from Brooklyn, in a 375ml bottle.

Cacao husks do the work. They are steeped in the distillery's unaged corn whiskey, which itself comes from organic New York corn and a generous slug of malted barley, double distilled in copper pot stills at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The result sits somewhere between a whiskey and a cocktail ingredient, and it is nothing like the sugary flavoured spirits the category is usually associated with. Founders Colin Spoelman and David Haskell have a track record of taking unfashionable formats seriously, and this was one of their earliest experiments.

Roasted cocoa, malt and a soft grainy sweetness, with a dry, slightly bitter finish from the husks. Pour it cold and straight after dinner, or build it into an Espresso Martini, a mocha Old Fashioned or a shot of very good hot chocolate.
