Kings County Peated Bourbon 200ml

Kings County Peated Bourbon 200ml is a peated-malt bourbon from Brooklyn in a small-format bottle.

Twenty-five per cent of the mash bill here is peated malt, grown and kilned in Scotland, with the remaining 75 per cent organic corn from New York State. That is an unusual grain recipe for something that still qualifies as bourbon, and it came about by accident when a malt shortage left the distillers reaching for whatever barley was on hand. The batch was so good a year later that it became a permanent line. Two years minimum in new charred barrels, double distilled in copper pot stills at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, bottled at 45 per cent.

Sweet corn and caramel up front, then a wisp of peat smoke through a warm, spicy finish. Neat is the way to understand it. The 200ml format is ideal for a couple of smoky Old Fashioneds or for testing it against your usual bourbon.
