Kings County Peated Bourbon 375ml

Kings County Peated Bourbon 375ml is a half-size bottle of Brooklyn bourbon made with Scottish peated malt.

A malt shortage at the distillery started it. Short of malted barley, the distillers grabbed peated malt to finish a batch, tasted it a year on, and liked it enough to make it permanent. This is not a classic bourbon put into a peated cask; it is a whiskey that conforms to the requirements for bourbon and is built with peated malt in the mash from the start. The malt was grown and kilned in Scotland and represents a quarter of the grain bill, with 75 per cent organic New York State corn making up the rest. Two traditions in one bottle.

Corn sweetness and vanilla first, then earthy smoke building through the finish. Drink it neat, or with a drop of water. It lifts an Old Fashioned considerably and makes a genuinely interesting Penicillin variation with honey and lemon.
