Description

KT Melva Riesling is an off-dry Watervale Riesling with wild-ferment texture and plenty of drive behind it.

Fruit comes off the Peglidis vineyard, planted in 1973 on chocolate loam over limestone, and ferments on wild yeast in twenty-year-old French barriques. Kerri Thompson keeps the wine on lees and stirs it regularly for several months, which builds breadth around that hard Clare acidity.

Citrus blossom, white peach and a honeyed note carry through a long clean finish, with the sweetness barely registering. Pour it cold at about 8 degrees with Thai salad, pork belly or a ripe washed-rind cheese.
