Description

L'Arlésienne Morgon Corcelette is the only wine in the range raised in barrel, from two biodynamically farmed high-altitude parcels.

L'Arlésienne is Benoît Moreau's Beaujolais label, and Corcelette lies on the north side of Morgon, well away from the volcanic Côte du Py that gives the cru its reputation for weight. Two parcels make up the wine. In the Janins climat there are 0.20 hectares of eighty-year-old vines facing north at 450 metres; in Truges, bordering Chiroubles Chatenay, 0.25 hectares of slightly younger vines face south. Both are farmed biodynamically, which remains exceptionally rare in this village. As with his Chiroubles, Moreau destemmed the entire harvest, working in the slower, Pinot-like manner rather than by carbonic maceration. Hail cut the crop to ten hectolitres per hectare. The wine was raised for twelve months in 500-litre oak.

Drinking well from a year or two and good for six, it suits roast duck, pork belly or hard cheese. Serve at 15-17°C.
