La Linea Mencia Red 2022

La Linea Mencía is made from a north-west Spanish variety almost unknown outside Galicia and Bierzo.

Mencía gives a medium-bodied red with floral lift and firm acidity, closer in shape to Cabernet Franc than to the richer Spanish reds. It needs a cool site to keep that character, which is what the Adelaide Hills provides. Plantings in Australia remain tiny.

Serve slightly cool at 15 degrees with charcuterie, roast chicken or grilled vegetables. Drink over the next six years.
