La Roche Paradis Côte Rôtie Rozier 1.5L MAGNUM 2022

Roche Paradis Côte Rôtie Rozier comes from a schist parcel above La Landonne on the Côte Brune, raised without new oak and offered in magnum.

Côte Rôtie is the northernmost red appellation of the Rhône, a wall of terraces above Ampuis planted almost entirely to Syrah and worked by hand, with vines trained to the échalas stakes typical of the sector. Rozier sits on the Côte Brune side, above La Landonne, on the dark schist and iron-bearing soils that give the appellation's firmest and longest lived wines. No new oak is used, and that is a deliberate choice: ageing in seasoned wood keeps the schist character, the floral lift and the peppery side of Syrah at the front of the wine rather than layering vanilla over it.

Full-bodied and structured, it wants game, beef and slow braises and repays cellaring; decant and serve at around 17 degrees.
