Description
La Soufrandière Pouilly-Fuissé Climat En Chatenay is a named-climat Chardonnay from the Bret family's holdings in Pouilly-Fuissé.
Pouilly-Fuissé takes in five communes beneath the limestone escarpments of Solutré and Vergisson at the southern end of Burgundy, and the appellation has increasingly been bottled climat by climat rather than as a single village wine. En Chatenay is one such site. La Soufrandière, the Bret family's own domaine at Vinzelles, farms its parcels by hand, picks ripe, whole-bunch presses and ferments with indigenous yeasts, then raises the wine on lees in barrel and larger wood before bottling with minimal handling.
Best given two to five years and served with roast poultry, scallops or a hard mountain cheese at 10-12°C.
